Similar to many other card dealers, i started out as a collector in 1987 when i located my baseball cards from when i was a kid. When i started spending more time with my cards than working, i started America's Pastime in 1989. We've been a storefront business ever since with our Bergen county store locations in Ridgefield, NJ, Rochelle Park, NJ and our current location for the past 12 years in Fair Lawn, N.J. We started out selling '80's and '90's Baseball Cards, packs and sets. Soon, we expanded our inventory to include other sports, football, basketball and hockey. But my first love has always been the vintage cards from Tobacco cards to the '50's,'60's and '70's.
We thrived in the late '80's and early '90's, survived the tough times of the 1994 strike year and the few years afterwards. The comeback year of 1998 with the Sosa/McGwire Home Run chase brought the hobby back and we thrived again for a few years until 9-11. Now with the tough economy we rely on our regular customers from our store location in Fair Lawn. Our regulars collectors from all over buy from our web site and those that we meet at card shows across the country keep us going and we appreciate all of you.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Elyse for 20 years and have two boys. My son Aaron 16 wrestles for his high school and is a great student. He's off to college in about 1 1/2 years. David, 13 is a baseball player, enjoys soccer and his sleep away camp friends. He is also a good student. And of course, my third son Freddy Dunkin McDuff is the most cooperative. He is our beloved West Highland White Terrier who is spoiled rotten except when he pees on the carpet. I |
